Cranky Food Friends shuts down in soft-release

X-post here:

So it’s time to say goodbye to Cranky Food Friends.  Sega have released a press on the status of Cranky Food Friends here:

Let’s comb over some of the high-points and low-points of this game, and give an overall impression to what has happened, as well as finish off this chapter.

Quick Impressions – The Legend of Dark Witch (Steam)

Since I’ve already done a full review of the game on the 3DS, I’ll be giving my quick impressions.  Do note however that my laptop is a little underspecced for the game and that I’m still in the process of building my new PC.

So in summary:

  • The port stays faithful to the 3DS version, with minor tweaks to the UI to make everything fit on one screen.
  • The minimal requirements on the game are alright, although the RAM usage was a bit concerning at first.  Once the game is open, however the game runs fluently.  I experienced load times of up to 5 minutes waiting for the game to open because my system doesn’t have enough RAM to open all the files at once.
  • The main menu has a few changes – Controller settings were taken into mind with a recent update, and there are a few oversights with full-screen play.
  • There isn’t a proper exit button.  This means getting up from an area where you’re using the wireless gamepad and pressing alt-F4 to close the game.  A tad bit counter-intuitive, but there can be a fix.
  • Changing resolution or adding a monitor in full screen play can cause the game to close.
  • Leaderboards option added for Steam Leaderboards.  I didn’t want to enable it just yet, but the option is there for people who want to put their names up on the leaderboards.
  • Badges for the Badge community.  I’m aiming to get almost all of them, so I’ve got a bit of work to do by playing the Steam Marketplace.

The Steam version is a great recommendation for people who haven’t played the 3DS version yet, and want to dip their toes into the series.

The Legend of Dark Witch is now on sale on Steam (due to the Lunar New Year Sale) and the second game (The Legend of Dark Witch 2 – The Price of Desire for 3DS) has been announced for the 11th of February.  The Lunar New Year sale ends on the 12th of February.

Re: Project Dream Team is crazy!

Thought I’d ramble on this for a bit as I should have been doing stuff on my blog instead of my Twitter.

So here we go: This is in regards to THIS post.

First off, let me remind all of you that since 2004, SEGA has had an announcement in their SEGA Gaming forum thread about this kind of thing.  Until SEGA announce that they are officially back into the business of designing hardware, they are not interested.

Import Review: PuyoPuyo!! Tetris (PS Vita)

Finally got my hands on this.

Let’s just say that this is the most fun I’ve had for quite a while.  After the failure of Tetris Ultimate I decided to get myself a more superior and fun Tetris game – Puyo Puyo Tetris.  It’s been a week since I’ve gotten it.  It’s still very fun.

Response post to “Video Games Are Better Without Characters”

Somehow this is starting to bite the part of my brain that’s telling me to criticize on this article.  Honestly it’s articles like this that make me endear pure cynicism and want me to push the boundaries to a point where I want to tell people where to fly.

Review: the – ̗̀new ̖́- Nintendo 3DS.

New 3DS Box

New 3DS box, I bought a black one.

So last week I said I’d review the New 3DS, but it only came through on Monday due to the fact that the electricity utility delayed it further than expected.  I’ve taken time in between work and socializing to play on my New 3DS, so I think it’s time to give my thoughts on it.

CM Storm Quickfire Ultimate – Blue Switch Keyboard

This review is long overdue.  I’ve been enjoying this keyboard so much and it shows by how much gaming I’ve been doing as of late.

The keyboard is beautifully etched in strong plastic, with a reinforced steel plating to make it much sturdier and much more stable to abuse from constant typing and gaming.  The keyboard is a great buy for a entry type mechanical keyboard.
